Soleado dedicate number 229 to the “Playgrounds – Reinventar La Plaza” exhibition at the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid (until 22 September), with a selection of tunes that could serve as a soundtrack to the new forms of street protests; sometimes uneasy, sometimes mobilising, but always (we hope) inspiring.

We’re trying hard to come back, but it’s harder than we thought. To make the wait somewhat more bearable, here’s a mixtape full of little gems that won’t take you to the beach, but sure sound great. Soleaaaado!

Soleado 227 – Ice Cream, Use Cream – 29/7/14

The last Soleado before the Big Summer Holiday is about screamers. And ice cream. Kicking off with a classic scene from Jim Jarmusch’s Down By Law, and followed by such hollering luminaries as Otis Redding, Tom Waits, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Big Youth, Camarón De La Isla, Ghostface Killa, Screaming Lord Sutch, and many more.
