We’ve been waiting ten years for the new Dead Capo album, and now (finally!!!) it’s arrived! The album will be out in June, but the group will be presenting it live next week!

Although Speak Low split up a year ago, they never had the chance to do the traditional farewell concert. This Thursday, they will officially say goodbye at their concert in Joy Eslava, together with Lucky Peterson, as part of the Moe Black Music Festival.

The new Lovemonk group Dead Capo will also be performing at the Madrid Festival. They’ll be playing on Saturday, March 24 together with The Apples in Sala Penelope. Their anticipated second album, Sale, will be out in June.
This is Lovemonk’s most electronic side at the newly renovated Siroco. We’re gonna see if their sound system sounds as good as they say and meanwhile you can listen to new 12 inches from Casbah 73 and Daniel Kyo which will be available sometime this Spring.
Gecko Turner is hitting the road once again this week to finish up the second part of his Winter Tour. The Extremeduran musician will be playing the tracks from his highly acclaimed album Gone Down South, among others, accompanied by his basic R&B band (drums, bass, guitar), plus the Supa Soul Sisters on backup. The tour begins this weekend in Burgos and Valladolid and finishes up in Cordoba at the end of March.

For the first time in Madrid, the Banda Achilifunk & Ensemble Taller de Musics will play live in Madrid with the presentation of their album Gitano Real (Lovemonk, 2011). The show will take place on February 9 at 22:00 at Sala Galileo Galilei, as part of Girando Por Salas del Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música.
They’re a quartet of top-line rumberos (Sam Mosketón, Muchacho, Jack Tarradellas and Rambo), and masters of funk (Lalo López and Paco Mantecao of the Fundación Tony Manero) and jazz who have come together to play classic funk and Catalán rumba tracks. This current line-up brings a new character, seasoned with a metal section from the Original Jazz Orquestra Taller de Músics. Its a project that, under the musical direction of Paco Mantecao, achieves a special sound that we call “big band rumba funk”.
Gitano Real is the culmination of the Achilifunk trilogy which began in 2007 with the acclaimed album/book compilation thought up by Txarly Brown, the most knowledgeable payo in all things rumba and a driving force in the rumba resurgence that is currently taking Barcelona by storm.

Sietepulgadas is a collective bringing together the big bosses of the Madrid soul and funk scene. The get together, write and record tracks, and have put together an album to be released in late November. Tracks by Límite 45, The Beignets, Octopus, Shulte and The Gigoletto Brass Band. They’ll be presenting the project on October 1 in Galileo Galilei with a Spanish All-Star funk band, and to top off the night, Señorlobo, Charlie Faber and others will be spinning great records.
