Usually in the biography of a band, the writer talks about how great the band is, how fresh their music is, etc etc. But in this case we’re talking about The Right Ons, so all that is unnecessary. You’ve probably known about The Right Ons for a few years now, their live shows and songs, and maybe you’ve heard about their two previous albums, their tours of the US, how their records have been released both in the US and in Japan. You may have heard something about their avid fans and constant touring of venues and festivals in Spain. Maybe you’ve even caught wind that the’ve played at biker gang reunions. Or even that they have their own studio, where they not only write and rehearse their own music, but also record and produce other bands…
But what you definitely didn’t know is that The Right Ons are five awesome guys who believe absolutely in what they do and love what they play. They have all the right albums in their record collection, take their music seriously, but have a whole lot of fun playing it.
After four years on tour, the band parked their van in their studio and started writing new songs. Their previous albums were recorded in Puerto de Santa María (Andalucía, Spain) and Boston. This time they recorded closer to home, with their own amps and instruments, in Madrid (although interestingly, the studio is called “Reno”) They’ve sharpened up the guitars, converted from soul-funk to garage rock, and made their best album yet. Just as athletes strive to go further, higher and faster, The Right Ons have become even better on this album with its seven raucous rock’n'roll songs.
Some words that come to mind when we think about the The Right Ons include, but are definitely not limited to solid, dark, serpentine, sexy, luminous, dirty.

The Right Ons new album, Get Out, will be in shops on November 7. Here’s the tracklist:
The cover is a photo by Chus Antón: “We always like covers that didn’t go unnoticed, those that no one is indifferent to, that provoke a reaction from the public. This ability to provoke, like with Nirvana’s “Nevermind”, “Amorica” by the Black Crowes and “Rage Agaianst the Machine” by RATM, was lost some time ago. When we saw Chus’ photo, we liked it and we saw it clearly,” explains Utah, the bassist of the group and the one responsible for the design.
The Right Ons will present their new album live on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in Madrid in Sala Sol. If you can’t wait till then, you’ll have another oppportunity to see them in an exclusive concert put on by Radio 3’s Hoy Empieza Todo on Tuesday, October 25. If you’d like to go, send an email to hoye...@rtve.es.
5 friends from Madrid. Got together in 2006 to play music. They recorded the first album 80.81 in 2007. They toured Spain opening for Mando Diao, Bellrays, Diamond Dogs… The played all festivals available. Then jumped to the US to play SXSW 08. Then toured the US West Coast. They came back and played the rest of festivals, even Rock In Rio in Madrid. They kept writing new songs. Meanwhile all the Spain press went nuts. Good reviews and more gigs to play.
November 08 head to NYC to play some gigs and stopped in Boston to record their second album at Q Division Studios, with Eli “Paperboy” Reed producer, Mr Ed Valauskas. All recorded live. Better keep your girlfriend close to you, this guys are risky. Are you ready for them? They are ready for you. 2009 was a non stop year. SXSW 09 and US Tour. UK tour with Eli “Paperboy” Reed. Then own tour of Spain, and Italy.
Lovemonk is a small record label from the Malasaña borough of Madrid. It may sound like the biggest cliché in the history of popular music, but there is not one particular label that can be used to describe Lovemonk’s sound. Indeed, many different labels can be and have been used, and all of them are valid at some point. If there is one word that sums it all up, it’s – hold tight, another cliché alert! – “eclectic”. That, and “sunny”.
But what better way to explain than to release a label compilation that says it all? Enter “Los Discos Buenos Suenan Mejor” (“Good Records Sound Better”), a CD that travels many roads – progressive disco-rock by the ever so surprising The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Latin boogie by the Grammy-winning Los Amigos Invisibles, folkie Russian Red singing to the dancefloor with Nelue, a bomb track previously unreleased on CD by The Right Ons, Makala doing ragtime-hop, a boogaloo by The Gigoletto Brass Band, the Flaming Groovies classic “Shake Some Action” soulified by Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents, New Orleans grooves by Speak Low, carioca-funk by Open Foraina, groovy folk by Bing Ji Ling, deep funk by Chip Wickham and of course the label’s classics such as Gecko Turner, Pajaro Sunrise and Martín Buscaglia, the latter with a preview of his upcoming album!
And all this comes in a marvellous digi-pack with beautiful artwork by Polish designer Animiwiesasz.
Enjoy the ride!

The most American sounding Rock n’ Roll band that isn’t from America — The Right Ons, are in fact from Madrid, Spain – and sing entirely in English. Drawing heavily on the Detroit Garage Sound, as well as funk and soul from the 60′s and 70′s, the band’s energetic live show has become legendary on the festival circuit in Spain.
“The quintet from Madrid, Spain is like a party in a box. They’re well-studied students of the classic Detroit garage rock sound, with bits of Jimi Hendrix and Sly and the Family Stone thrown in as well. – TWANGVILLE
Another rather nice 7” from Lovemonk, and this time it’s a garage funk band from Madrid who are making the noise. The Right Ons are a fantastic, party spirited collective who take their cues from Sly and the Family Stone, and an early 70s pop soul
The A is their take on Lou Reed’s tale of his dealer – a banging little funker which has the obligatory Hammond groove alongside the energetic vox. A proper reinterpretation – smack never sounded that funky…
‘Hey Yeah’ is another uptempo, funk-break led stomper where the drummer’s truly given some. A bit more psych in the mix here, but undoubtedly one for the dancers!
